What to do before the dentist arrives

For Toothache

  • Rinse mouth with warm salt water
  • Use dental floss to remove trapped food
  • Take over-the-counter pain medication
  • Apply cold compress to outside of cheek
  • Never apply aspirin directly to gums

For Knocked-Out Tooth

  • Handle tooth by the crown, not the root
  • Gently rinse with water (don't scrub)
  • Try to place tooth back in socket
  • If not possible, keep in milk or saliva
  • Get to dentist within 30 minutes!

For Broken Tooth
